Juniperus Botanical: A Tasmanian Family Project
Juniperus Botanical is a small-scale family orchard based in Acton Park, southern-Tasmania. Our story started ten years ago with Adam’s fascination for growing juniper locally — at that time, a plant not often seen in Australian commercial agriculture. What began as a personal curiosity has turned into a quest to propagate and grow juniper from many different sources and learn how the plants respond to our local conditions.
After years of patient growth, we are proud to offer a local source of premium juniper for those who value provenance and quality.

We believe Tasmania is a perfect home for juniper. The island’s cool climate and distinct seasons allow our berries to ripen slowly, which helps develop a deep, concentrated flavour profile. Growing in one of the world’s most pristine environments means we can produce a berry that is clean and full of character.

We provide our harvest in two forms:
Fresh Berries: harvested directly from our local orchard, these berries showcase their natural volatile oils and exhibit bright citrus and floral depths. While the signature pine notes remain, they are more nuanced than in dried varieties, allowing the berry’s natural sweetness to shine.
Dried Berries: for more traditional applications, our dried berries provide a deep, spicy quality with bold pine notes. They are carefully dried to ensure they are easy to store and ready for year-round use.

We grow our juniper with professional kitchens in mind. We keep things pretty simple: the berries are grown using organic growing practices, hand-picked, and thoroughly cleaned so they’re ready to use the moment they reach your bench. Because we’re a small team, we handle the deliveries ourselves to make sure everything arrives fresh and exactly when you need it. Whether it’s for curing local game, infusing delicate oils, or creating complex reductions, our berries provide a sophisticated, locally-grown aromatic that tells a story of place on the plate.

In 2024, we reached a major goal. By partnering with Killara Distillery, we supplied the core botanical for what we believe to be the first commercially sold gin made with 100% Tasmanian-grown juniper. This partnership proves that we don't need to look overseas to create world-class spirits — the best ingredients are right here in our own backyard.
